Handbrake light glows at night

I have a VS and the handbrake light glows dimly at night. I have driven another VS and none of the warning lights do this. Both are same level.
The handbrake switch also connects to the speed alert to beep if you drive off with handbrake engaged. I suspect some currrent is leaking from the speed alert into the warning lamp.
Is this a common fault?

It's supposed to beep when you drive off with the handbrake on. I assume the switches earth to work, so maybe have a look at the switch on the handbrake itself and see if it moves freely. You could try disconnecting the switch to check.
