Hey all, I noticed my rear bumper license plate light was not working, so I bought a new bulb thinking quick fix today..no such luck.

So I pulled the wire clip/harness off and touched it on the chrome bumper to test for power and it sparked. I checked the bulb actually touches on the bottom metal prong that goes to harness, which it does...

It also has an earth metal prong that touches on side of bulb and earths out on the chrome bumper once the plastic surround is pushed back into rear bar slot....

Just to be sure of all these little connections, I folded some tin foil up in case there were any small gaps stopping connections.

I just cannot get this damn light to illuminate! Anyone got some ideas???

Cheers, Josh

yup, normal fault with vb-vh's
usually rust on the lip edge that the earth terminal sits on stops the current.
All I can suggest is clean up the edge and keep messing with it...
or open up that housing and add in an earth wire and hook it to the body to make a wired earth for it.
for mine to work in my vh for each rego inspection, i just prise up the housing a little bit so it works for the inspection.
