gear selector light not working

on my 1990 vn wagon my gear selector light doesnt work. i have checked the bulb and it looks fine. the ciggi lighter light works fine so wat would it be.

the globe could be blown even tho it doesnt look like it. try testing the globe socket with a multimeter or chuck another globe in it. i recienty changed mine and it was about a buck. have you checked fuses?

no i havent checked fuses but after i posted that up i thought about swapping the ciggi lighter globe and see if it works in it. do u no if there the same globe

cigi lighter has a screw-in globe. but the globe in the steering column is the same that shines on your keys. if you want to use that there are a few screws on the bottom where the ignition barrel is. take tem out ant the bottom cover will come off and you can access the globe (its not hard). i can take sum pics just in case u dont feel comfortable doin it.
