Angry VR Interior Light Not working

    Hi Everyone,
I have a VR series II S and the interior light flashes on when the car is locked and unlocked remotely, but won't work otherwise, fuses tested OK, anyone seen this fault before? I'm looking for ideas on where to look to resolve the problem. Cheers

You mean like when you open the doors the light doesn't come on?
Does it come on with any door open or none of the doors?
What about when you manually turn it on from the little switch mounted with the headlight switch?

Hi, No, it's dead on all points, doesn't work when any doors are open, or when I manually switch it on from the headlight switch. Just bought the car secondhand for my son and it has an after market radio fitted, just wondering if the installed could have screwed the light when he fitted the radio?

Not understanding totally. But the interior light above your head is not working? Have you checked bulb? fuses?

Hi, The globe works when the doors are locked/unlocked with the button on the key, everything seems fine until you open a door then the light does not work.

might be a fault on the connection to the accessories wire. try running a multi meter over all the wires/fuses that run to and from it. trace the wires to see if it connects to the right accessories etc.

Default vr interior light (above head ) not working proper

vr interior light (above head ) not working proper
its good then when u drive for a while down the road ,a couple k's
THEN a burning smell comes from the interior fuse area

so next day i had to cut that burnt wire out, behind the fuse grid panel & fitted a blade fusible link & into-connecting the thick red feed wire & orange/blue

i thought i fixed it quite well ....at least for a couple days ,as interior light worked as it should
i was actually testing it by switching it on & off now & again & FORGOT it on whilst parked for about 5 hours , i felt where the wires & fuse are & not hot at all ,,
so I assumed TESTED & FIXED ,, but sure enough it shat itself as below later on

then driving along i had to pull over as that familiar burning smell came back & i quickly pulled fuse out which was blown
now of course interior light is not working again
i put insulation tape around inner turret frame as the grey plastic base was all brittle
other than that its got me boggered
any ideas as to wats causing this shorting out all the time ?????? thanx

The interior light wire runs up the inside of the drivers piller and across the roof in the middle. There is a plug for it behind the kick pannel. Look at this plug (thick orange wires).

Basicly the wires go from the fuse bar to the plug and then up to the roof. Plenty of places for it to short as there are plenty of sharp edges in the roof for it to be cut. Have you moved anything of late?

But getting hot - have you changed the globe - can be the problem?

Cheap to try I suppose (globe that is)

But if your getting lots of heat there is some place in the light loom that is not right.

The kick panel is easy to remove and check the plug - is it getting hot too?

Also the thick wire to the roof is very thick and would almost be impossible to cut in normall usage of the car. I'd be looking at each end of the wires. Is the fuse bar melted around the fuse?
