Hey I have been putting this Vh together for a little while now, i've managed to put new carpet in, get the motor mech sound with some help and get most of everything else working including the lighting except for this one little problem.
The reverse lights arent working while the car is in the Reverse gear range but they are working in the Drive range???? I found that the Neutral Safety switch was the problem so i replaced it but it still has the same problem. The gear box works fine and the wiring seems to be fine unless you tell me otherwise. Im all outa brain for this one!
Please help I want to get this thing roadworthy!
If you could send me an email on miss_you182@hotmail.com that would be great
Sounds like tha actual adjustment of the linkage is the cause - but then your box wouldn't be selecting the gear properly.
Does it start normally in both park & neutral, or only neutral?
If it's only neutral, then there's definately something dodgy with the location f the switch.
Have you got the pin from the shifter inserted into the switch correctly?
If you can't get it right with a bit of adjustment then I'd remount the switch in a position that works. Sounds like something bodgy has happened with the shifter.
Thanks for the hints ill have a look into it again with that in mind, the only thing is that all gears work and it starts in park, im not sure if it starts in neutral though because I usually turn it over while its in park.
I actually thought that the shift linkage might be wrong but i know that if i move anything than ill probably bugger up the whole lot!
there r different part number switches for different models.sounds strange but thats what acces to factory holden parts info tells ya. there is no provision for adjustment of the switch so unless the wiring to the switch is ass about im stuffed
