Exclamation VP Cruise Control Brake Switches

For some reason my cruise control doesnt work unless i give the brake pedal a kick on the side. And sometimes the set button wont work. Any ideas? Does anyone know how i can fix this?

More importantly, can someone take a picture or do a diagram of how the brakes switches are connected. I need to be able to see the colours of the wires and also of how the two swicthes behind are connected. My auto electrician didnt put them back when he checked them for faults.

I appreciate it if someone could check the wires out for me. I dont know of anyone else with a VP/VN with cruise control.

Hold the brake pedal steady where it normally sits not depressed with your hand.Put pressure on back of switch and push it towards the pedal. An audible click will happen as the switch moves towards the pedal bracket until all the freeplay is taken out of the switch and now it is correctly adjusted. Repeat on the other one.Hit the peadal and let it find its normal stop and repeat procedure to make sure you have adjusted it right. Some cars had a locknut you did up once the adjustment is made.
    here's the circuit

could u show me a pic of where the swicth/es are....i think im confused with the switch connectors at the front. Or give me detailed instructiosn on how to adjust them. i went to adjust something and now the cruise doesnt turn on at all so im guessing i pushed something the wrong way - so the swicth is always pressed....
    thanks

Quick method .... grab switch at back near connectors and pull towards you until it comes right out.Put switch just back in hole and while holding pedal where it normally is at rest, push the switch through the hole, it will click as you do until it can't go any further because the tit on the switch has contacted the pedal and bottomed in the switch. Then for the switch with two connectors the brake lights should come on when you depress the pedal a bit.Repeat for the other one.
From the picture of a spare you can see how the switch's thread makes contact the little bits on the round clip that pushes through the bracket and as you push on the switch it clicks as it goes over the high part of the thread and drops into the low part so you dont turn it to adjust it you push or pull the switch through the round clip.
Some vns used the big nut in the picture to lock the switch but my vp doesn't have it

thanks mate. i did what you said and now it works every time. just to emphasise, if anyone else has this problem, make sure you push it all the way in. If you hear a click when u push the pedal - that means its in properly. Thanks again markovr
