aldl cable, help!

Hi,
I have just received 2 max232 ic's and I've got 14 to 21 days to wait for my 16 pin aldl plug.

My problem is I would like a setup that doesn't require any external power sources (ie. Ciggy lighter etc)

Is this possible using EFILive and a serial connection?

I have googled to try and find a solution but have had no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe if I send the parts, someone could make one for me?

Dave, there is a member on here, michaelw, that designed and now builds his own cables. He does a good price for members, and by the time you buy all the parts you could have purchased one from him already made up (you only need 1 232 as well). Power can be obtained from the aldl plug, there is a 12V rail there. EFIlive will work with a usb with the correct converter. Im sure michaelw has even done this too, so you can just use an usb cable. If you are still keen to build your own he has done a big page up with a heap of information, just have a search around.
