My vn Alternator on vh

ok i have an alternator it's playing around i have to rev it to 3000 rpm to get it to start charging but once i have hit 3000 it charges all the time from then on like when i go back down to idle it's charging i think it has a problem with turn it's self on

sounds like you might need a bigger globe in you warning light
try hooking up a tempory light from your "L" terminal on your alt to a battery source,if it goes out at idle then thats your trouble,a test light should do it

on the back of the VN alternators there are 2 wires coming from a injector style plug. one goes to the dash warning light, the other is to sense the system voltage and should be connected to the battery positive terminal. where have you connected yours?
