Default Intermittent 5 Litre engine miss

I have had a very annoying engine miss for the past few months in my auto VS wagon. It usually begins once the engine has warmed up and is noticeable at idle. Then if you accelerate a tad faster than normal it will miss, loose power and "ping" while the tacho basically matching how the engine is running. So far I have installed (new), dizzy cap, rotor button, leads, spark plugs and coil. I had the injectors cleaned as well and the ECM checked for errors but all was clear. I'm running out of cheap solutions, as there are not to many things to replace e.g. the ignition module is still original. Any help would be appreciated. As its intermittent when all is well the engine runs like a V8 should !

could be the fuel pump, mine had to be replaced the other day, it would miss and struggle on light throttle, i was suprised cos i thought that it would have failed completely not partially and also the fact that i had it replaced 11 months ago, so i got it replaced under warranty.

I'd try swapping the ECU with a known good unit. The ECU can be faulty without giving error codes.

I have checked the connectors and they all seat quite well. I must admit though that I until today when I was sussing things out under the hood after a drive I never realised how dam hot the ignition module gets (guessing that's normal because of he cooling fins)
