Default Car alarm and central locking into vc

I've decided I'd like remote central locking for my old vc, and an alarm as well. I've found a mob on Ebay that sell both: REMOTE ENGINE START 2 WAY PAGER ALARM WITH TURBO TIMER - eBay Car Alarms, Safety, Security, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 12-Jul-08 20:11:25 AEST),
REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING KEYLESS ENTRY 4 DOOR NEW DESIGN - eBay Car Alarms, Safety, Security, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 13-Jul-08 22:00:00 AEST)
Has anyone installed a similar system in a VC? Or vb/vh?
My main questions are how hard are the actuators to mount in the doors, and where do i bring the wires into the door?
I'm hoping the quality will be good, as the seller has almost perfect feedback, and I've read pretty good things about the electric window kits they sell as well.
Any useful advice appreciated. Thanks.

did this in a vl, it'll take you a day and abit of mucking around. Running the wires wasn't too bad, matter of drilling some holes, little bit of rust proof around the hole then a plastic plug which may not come with it.

Setting the actuators is a bit trickier. bit of trial and effor getting them in places where they will work and wont be in the way of the windows going up and down.

Back doors are easy. In hte VL there was a point they attached to easily. In the fron doors i tried a couple of places before i was happy. When i get on the other computer i;ll put some pics up for you.

Go for it i reckon, makes life easier and a worthwhile mod for an older car i think.

First of all.....you'd be better off getting a Mongoose alarm. A few guys sell them on ebay cheap, and they're gonna be waaay better then those cheapy ones.

Here's one here:
Mongoose M60S car Alarm INSURANCE appr 5years warranty - eBay Car Alarms, Safety, Security, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-Jul-08 23:32:46 AEST)

We've recently bought an M80 for my VK which is top of the line, and it cost about $200, and 2 M60's for the R31 and my L300 van (which both 2gether was about $250). Only installed one of the M60's into the R31 and that works great.

We also bought a few central locking kits from our local AutoPro for about $35-$40.

The actuators aren't that hard to install. If u can't find a spot to put them with the normal holes in the door, u just gotta drill ur own. For the wiring just drill a hole in the best spot (if there's no holes already drilled) where it can be seen the least, and go to ur local auto parts store and buy some rubber grommets to put in the holes.

The alarms aren't to hard to install either. Just install the alarm one wire at a time, and work ur way through them.

Thanks for your replies.
That mongoose one looks really good, and its even cheaper than the cheapy ones I've been looking at. The only thing it doesn't have is remote start, which i don't really need, but it would be cool to have. Oh well.

lol, I'm not sure how the remote start works.....but I'm sure u wouldn't be able to use it on ur VC anyways as the remote start would somehow have to pump the accelerator a few times just to get her goin lol. I once thought about remote start, but yeah don't think it would work properly on an old car (especially carby motors).

At the end of the day it's your choice, but the Mongoose alarm is gonna do a waaay better job then the cheapy.

Also, the alarm I gave u a link for is the middle of the range. They have cheaper ones which would still be better then the other ebay cheapies, plus they got better ones as well. I think they are the M20, M60 and M80.

yeah i wouldn't be worried about remote start. someone told me once that the aftermarket ones had to have the car turned off then back on when you go in it. Might have been a crap one though. Don't know much about them.
