alternator is working harder to recharge the power to the car, so it puts more load on the engine....
you can check/prove this by disconnecting the alternator for a SHORT time... and driving down the street...
if the alternator isnt connected (the charge wire to the battery) then it wont be under load, but ALL power will be taken from the battery (Hence why only do this for a SHORT time, or you kill the battery)
so your car should slow down as it did before....
other ways to check is with a special AMMETER connected to the battery to see the difference in current drain with the sub ON or OFF... special because most Ammeters can only read up to 10Amps, and you'd need one rated to over 100Amps??? (verification?)
