Default relays

would faulty relays cause my fuses to melt? i recently had my fusebox replaced in my VL coz the fuses were literally melting onto the fuseblock. i did post a thread that asked about this problem and thanks to all those that helped. but now it is happening again, when i got the car my headlight high-beam fuse was already melted onto the fuse block, but it slowly went downhill from there and several more melted too. now ive had it replaced and it worked fine for a month or so and its starting to melt again. any experience would be much appreciated. thanks guys

I didnt follow what happened last time. What amperage fuses are the ones where the melting is occuring? are they powering headlights of higher than factory stock?
The fuses shouldnt really get hot, though poor/corroded contacts will generate heat.

No, I dont think the relays would have anything to do with it.

thanks mate. the amperage varies from 3 all the way to 25. i still have the headlights that came in the car when i bought it last year, and as stated above the high-beam fuse was already melted. that being said, the headlights suck so im thinkin they will be the factory rating.

check the whole headlight loom, circuit for dodgy joins and replace with a single good wire where possible etc, resistance = heat = burning wires and fuseboxes.

check also the headlight switch in the dash for burning around the back where the plug goes on.

there was a thread on here a while back about running the headlights off relays and using the wires from the factory switch to the fusebox to trigger the relays so you get the full 12V to em instead of 10V.

the other option you have which can be used in conjunction with the relays is a circuit breaker in the headlight circuit which can be mounted in the fusebox if you have a spare spot where a relay would normally go.
