Why doesn't my screen work?

Hey all, I'm installing a dvd system into my VS, and am having a bit of trouble with the front screen.
The DVD source (roof-mounted monitor) works fine, but I can't get the dash screen to work.
As far as I can tell, the wiring is fine: 12v wire going to a constant power source (will have a switch), earth is good, rear-view camera to nothing. RCA's connected up right.
But the screen will not turn on. I get no power light or anything to suggest signs of life.
Any ideas on the problem?

got the handbrake wire connected from the headunit to the handbrake.

The source unit is a roof-mounted dvd player, so it has no handbrake cable.
The front screen is only a monitor, so that has no handbrake cable wire either.
Only wires it has are power, earth, rear camera, and rca's

Does anyone else have any ideas?
I'm starting to think the screen is just buggered

I would make sure that you can account for every wire - ie you know what every single wire does and there are none that you would say that your not sure what that wire is. Next disconnect all except those required - power, ground and input and try that. If that fails I would be looking at swapping for another to try.
