i just pulled my alternator off and the wiring behind it has gone white and crusty as.
can i use any wire as long as the guage is about the same?
do i have to have a copper terminal or something?
Don't blame me, It's that damn percadan..
If you ask me, that stuff rots your brain...
And now a word from our new sponsor.. Percadan? oh crap!
yeah mate, all good. Keep your wiring the same size!! Bowl down to repco and buy a couple of insulated crimp lugs with the correct hole and cable size. Dont be to fussy about buying crimp tool $$$, the crimp part most pliers have will do for this task. As to joining with your existing wires, a twisted soldered joint with heatshrink would be better, or just a simple strip connector with a bit of insulation tape will do.
Happy wiring
yer im not that slack, i mean in terms of power handleing
i have some roughly 5mm thick dc wiring, it has a rating of 50v/50a do you think this can handle the power?
its a 630/0.12mm the wire in the other cable seems to have fewer but thicker
