    Default No spark from Dizzy

    Hi,
My VS 5.0L Stato just stopped.
I have spark out of my coil with a plug attatched to the lead but none out of the distributor. Is this a hall effect device problem?

no, i dont think so if the hall effects was broken you'd get no sparrk at all from the coil.

I take it this is happening when you are turning the motor over with the starter? If you are getting a spark from the coil without turning over the motor, there is a distributor problem.

My bet is that the rotor button has died. It may be earthing the spark voltage through the distributor shaft. With it apart, it's worth looking at the distributor cap also. If it has spark, both the Hall sensor and ignition module are working.

Yes I am cranking the engine when I am getting spark. I tried my rotor in my mates statesman and it worked fine. The cap looks ok, but as we know looks can be deceiving. I will try another cap. Funny thing is I was around fixing my mates statesman. His had no spark and we worked out it was a coil. We took off in mine and it just stopped out the front of his neighbours.
