vp brake lights work fine when lights are off but soon as you put lights on and put your foot on the brake lights go off ??????????
any ideas anyone ??????????
check your break globes sounds like one has blown and shorting on the second filament in the globe
Check to see if you have the correct type of globe in your brake lights.

check the earth aswell.
it is most commonly the earthing issue centy is talking about! 99% of them do it! do they go kinda haywire? like some light up and others turn off? if so - your tail light looms have packed up! They are available from Holden still roughly $40 per side

I have a VP [Lexcen] sedan that has the exact same problem. I replaced the wiring loom on both sides and all new bulbs, but it still does it.
The problem is only when the headlights are turned on. All rear lights work fine with headlights off. As soon as you turn the headlights on all three brake lights [2x bumper level and 1x parcel shelf] come on and stay on unless you bress the brake pedal, then the brake lights stay off while the brake pedal is depressed.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
I had the same problem in my car but I replaces my looms, one side stopped, so I replaced the other side again and all worked fine![]()
Don't love these guys that come on with their problem and never come back and tell you if they solved it and how they did it or if your info was any good.

It will usually be bad earths on the globe holders, they rust out. Best if you replace the wiring looms on both sides to eliminate the problem
