    Exclamation high beam....

alright my high beam wont stay on! im wondering weather it is coz there may be a small switch broken in my "vl calais" or if i have some dodgy wiring...

i will try explain what has happened... some may follow some may be half as lost as i am... some might think im drunk...

the bloke who had the car before me thought he would be smart and put in an automatic type high beam low beam. This done by a sensor which tells weather it is dark or light etc.

sounds smart. yet he wasnt. he put in like an extra 2039842349 wires, told me he took everything out yet my speaker was buzzin so i followed the wire under neath stearing wheel and find all this shit everywhere...

i really need to take photo's to explain it, but what is left is a wire from the battery to a gray cord that is supposed to go to my "high beam relay" (he said something about he had to cut some wires as it could fry the electrical computer in the car as he was making the high beam up by forcing extra power somewhere...)

i also found a gray cord cut on the silver box under the stearing arm (it was in the little cover that opens) it had a switch on it, so that what ever it had going threw it could be turned off at times??

would it just be easier to re-wire my high beam??

or could it be that the switch in lights is wrecked. it clicks on but has to be held there to work and then it kind of clicks again but wont stay.

It would be more advisable to get your car into an auto elec and get them to fix the fault.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth..Try checking the fuse box..VL's seem to have a tendancy to melt fuses..

    Default yeh noticed..

the previous owner must have already replaced 2 fuses/fuse clips.

there were an extra 2 fuses and i was unsure what they were, looked abit closer and the high beam and another 1 had melted to peices and another 2 were made for them...

they all good. but could a blown fuse cause the high beam not to stay on??

like i said if i hold it there it works....

More than likely you got a crook h/beam relay it may be the switch but the relay is a common fault in these vehicles but u got a fair old mess by the sounds of things so id take it to an auto elec.

Yeah, the relay is definetly stuffed, but the problem is why? So, yeah....get an auto sparky into the old girl.
