Hi guys,
Just wondering if you could tell me, with the key off, how many amps is acceptable. I currently have approx 5. My father in law did an in car test yesterday, we found the fuse containing Power Antenna, parking lamps and trip computer was taking the bulk of it.. once we pulled the fuse, it dropped to approx 2 amps.
half an amp max or the battery will be flat within a few hours.
5 amps is like leaving your parkers on during the day, we all know that'll flatten the battery![]()
Yeah sorry!!!
CURRENTLY I have got it running at 0.5 amps. I have been told 0.2 is acceptable, or even 0.3 TOPS..
Are you having battery troubles? Im not sure exactly what a good number would be, I think 0.5A would be fairly reasonable, maybe a little high, probably should go measure my own car.
Edit - Just went and measured my car = 0.19A (190mA).

find a wiring diagram and see what else is connected to that circuit

Typical commodore battery has a reserve capacity of ~ 85-100 minutes
That's the length of time it will provide 25A at a suitable voltage
that's approx 42 Amp hours, though its not always a simple calculation difference here.
So if the battery draws 0.2A, it will survive for 42/.2 hours = 210 hours.
= only a week and a bit.
The longest Ive left my comm is six weeks and it started....so suggesting just on the battery capacity data, that the current draw at idle should be much smaller than 0.2A.
2A is definitely too much.
With the comm and the ecu and all its timer functions etc, Id be testing the current draw at least 5 mins after the last item has been used and switched off.
