    G'Day mate. You're my last hope! I have a 98 VT V6 Auto Exec with pacemaker headers, K&N Filter, custom CAI and a Gold 98 chip that I bought ages ago. For quite some time now i've had crap fuel economy.

    As far as I can tell I haven't lost a noticable amount of power but I've tried everything to get my economy back. It used to be fantastic. 650kms around town and 800 on the highway. now I'm lucky to get 300 normally and 600 on highway. I've tried everything I could think of and find on the net. I've cleaned the injectors then replaced them completely. I've replaced the oxy sensors. Cleaned the air flow meter with contact cleaner and a number of other things. I've taken it to mechanics here in Adelaide who put the diagnostic tools on the job and they couldn't find any faults. They did say that the sensors may be working properly but dirty or damaged and not giving a proper reading.

    I have a vague idea about how your products work but nothing indepth so I thought I'd try.

    I would like to know if you have anything of know anything that may be able to get me back to a similar level my car used to be at. I don't do anything crazy in it. My missus drives it now and, as far as I know, she is't racing for slips. Would a reprogram or similar mod be appropriate for my problem? I work in Elizabeth so I can bring it over any time.

    Please help!!

    The usual mods you have done to the car wont cause a increase in fuel consumption, the only thing that can cause this is, either is the chip or there is a fault in the car that hasnt been picked up.

    Im not going to say, a remap will fix the problem at hand until i run the vehicle and monitor cruise points for consumption, once all this has been done, then the decision can be made from there.

    A suggestion to try, it will cost you the price of a standard paper air filter. Put one back in and see what happens to your economy.

    hi i have a haltech e11v2 in my vs with turbo setup and stroker, have been having trouble to get it tuned properly i live up in far north queensland, wish i was closer as it sounds like you know what you are doing with haltech comps. my tuner says there is no load compensation for the engine when say engine fan kicks in and car wants to nearly stall. wondering would you be able to look at a map sent to you or is that a waste of time and do you know anybody up around the Cairns area where there is any good tuners?

    I would really have to look at the vehicle and the tune in front of me, to see what is going on, I cant really help you on this one, im sure there is someone up in Cairns that could look at it. I cant recommend anyone, as ive never delt with any workshop of that region before.

    I rang you guyz recently and was quoted $1450 drive away
    with the intercepter haltech ECU installed + a Dyno tune Correct or not....
    which you said in your previous post that this is the cheapest option.

    But im going to be going turbo soon. so i want a ECU which will cater for this....
    Will the intercepter be up to the task say when 20psi is used ill be using a GT3582 Garnett Turbo... + a Stroker 4.2 Lt Kit aswell eventually...

    Will i have to go a different computer.. E6GMX ect.... can you help me pls...
    will i be looking at $1700 for the E6GMX driveaway,,,, ???

    In the next couple of days i will be buying a e6gmx i have put a t5 behind my ecotec and changed the loom to manual i need to know two thing how hard is it to change the ecotec to a map sensor with the e6gmx and do they come with base maps so i can drive it to the dyno tuner downt the road

    If your going to stick to your future modification plan, then yes i would definately go the E6GMX computer, as it will give far more control over the interceptor. And this allows better air induction designs without having an air flow meter.

    As for cost, $1700 was a fitted price to a standard plug in vehicle (VN-VS V8 Man, VN-VP V6 Auto). With the VY V6 every wire has to be changed at the computer, plus the addition of a MAP sensor to suit your application, your factory computer still has to be installed in the car due to Body Control Module etc etc.......

    So its not a straight forward procedure, but its a far better way if your planning on those modifications with that model of car.

    I get the idea brad... Prob $2000+ ....

    Look im doing it in stages so realisticaly 2-3 year project.....
    But i will be going turbo soon but because i wont have a rebuilt engine straight away
    its done 170,000 now and by the time turbo goes in it probably will be 200,000Km
    and then i want my engine to contunie another 40,000km+...Before a rebuilt stroker kit....

    Im thinking interceptor...I dont want to blow my standard ecotec straight away...
    I wont be chancing big KW straight away anyway..???
    Plus the idea is to go turbo but just keep it at 5-7psi conserative...

    Not chasing big performance just want it all the function prperly....
    Get pumps / fuel all sorted.. Fix Driveline / Suspension / etc first ready to chase big KW
    if you get my drift....
    But on the other hand i dont want the one step forward 2 steps back approach either..
    So go the E6GMX... ????

    Any ideas and help.... you pretty much answered all the questions but choosing between
    the two i just dont now...

    Can the interceptor once installed be upgraded to the E6GMX at a less cost or
    Still have to rewire like you said.... ??? Im just still trying to toss it up...

    I JUST BOUGHT ONE AND THEY SAY THEY ARE COMPATABLE WITH VS MANUAL THEY ARE BUT U HAVE TO CHANGE THE WHOLE SET OF ECU PLUGS AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH


    its ok they said i can put the vn harness i have in witch i will actually prefer just will be alot of stuffing around

    G'day mate, i currently have a raptor charged 2002 vu ute (ecotec v6) and i am selling that whole setup for an l67 motor.
    i am looking at running around 17psi, porting the charger and cylinder heads. i have extractors and a full exhaust system. i am looking for an ecu that has plenty of tuning capabilities. will the 'intercepter' be able to do this?? whatever ecu it is, what type of work am i looking at to install it?? other work in the future will be maybe a 4.2l stroker.

    Rik,

    The interceptor and E6GMX are two completly different units, they cant be upgraded to each other and vise versa, the interceptor is a far cheaper option to get up and running than the E6GMX, but are mainly designed for guys going the normal bolt on modifications, and will handle a small increase in injector size.

    Depending on time frame of when your going to be doing different stages of the build, will depend on what computer you want to use, if you started of with say the interceptor then and ran your low boost levels this will do for a while. As soon as you wanted to build the stroker and step the boost levels up, you would want to be using the E6GMX.

    They are plug and Play on the correct vehicle "VS V8" manual, Not on the "VS V6"

    The wiring harness is completly different, between the VN & the VS

    A VN V6 Harness will be the easiest thing to get this car going as the wiring harness will fit with a few small modifications.

    Hey man i have an LS2 that i am putting into a VN. The LS2 has been stroked out to 440 and the compression ratio is now about 11.5 to 1, The cam has about .620" lift and not sure of the duration, I will have a full spec sheet in a about a week. I think i will have to stay auto with it but i would love to go manual. The predicted power is about 400-450rwkw. Do you have a recommendation on a computer system and do you offer an engine harness to suit. I want to be able to have multiple tunes ie cruising, strip on pump and strip on race fuel.

    Id be using a factory LS1 computer on the application, the LS1 computer is a very power computer, when used correctly.

    It allows Boost, shift lights, thermofan control, NOS, speedo etc etc.

    IWilINg didn't think that the ls1 ECM would give me the ability to change the tune with out having to take it to a tuner? I want to be able to drive to the strip on street tune and change it there at the track and change it back again for the drive home.

    All my customers drive there cars to the track and race still on the same tune, when your at WOT your tune will enter a different section of the programming anyway, so you dont need a different tune.
