As for an advantage, yes if tuned correctly. The biggest advantage with aftermarket ECU's, is ignition charge time which cant be touched when tuning the factory ECU.

Cheers mate see you soon.

what computer would you recommend for a vr ute 355 stroker with supercharger (10psi now will be 20psi when run in) It is a street registered drag car and will remain street driven. I also want the option to run NOS later on.
What is wrong with having say a street and race tune street would be just a safe tune tuned to about 400hp on Preimum fuel and race tune it to run av-gas and open it right up. I like this idear because it means i wont need to carry a 44 of av gas when i go for a cruize.

If the tune is right, u wont need different tunes, unless running different octane fuels.
Forget avgas, that went out years ago, C16 is the fuel to run, if running as a drag car, or simply leave as pump fuel.
If you would like to data log by the flick of the switch, suggest in going a E11V2 or just stay with the Haltech E6GMX

E6X would be the best suited for your application, another modification that i do on Holden 6's is convert the distributor into a pickup only, and run V6 commodore coil pack with power transistors, this will ensure high spark output per spark plug, alot better than the original VK electronic distribtor setup, or crane setup.

HALTECH Disappointing Service
They were finishing some tunning when the computer goes into 'boot' mode and couldn't do anything with it.
So it gets shipped off express post to Syd and they look at say yeah it's in boot mode...... we'll test and send back.
After nearly a week we ring to ask where it is to the reply 'oh yeah, maybe that's what this one sitting on the bench is"!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I still have no computer and wont be running until mid next week at the earliest.
Loosers.

Mate, i dont understand why youve posted this rubbish in my forum area, i have nothing to do with the problems you are having, thats between you and your tuner, or dealer.
So in your opinion Haltech Sucks, thats your decision, or are you just having a whinge at there after sales service, either way post that in another area, not mine.

Yeah, it was just a vent at after sales service etc, I work in an electronics type industry as well and service like that is rather poor.
The thread topic was Haltech Aftermarket ECU's so it was relative to that, not to your specific area.
I will still be using the Haltech and I hope it performs better for the future. It was not a fault of the tuner and wouldn't matter who was installing it.
It may have been slightly strong worded, but was probably not meant to come accross quite as it seemed. I have been trying to justify my choice in Haltech to many people since the purchase and having these sorts of issues starts me wondering if I did make the wrong choice.
I will edit.

Trav,
they are all as good as each other, i think personally it depends on what the user feels most comfortable with. I speak to many that say Autronic is the best and Haltech are crap, but these guys dont seem to tune Haltech's at all. So once again its user's preferences........
In Shauns Methanol drag car we are running a E11v2, and its been great so i will continue to use them.
