    Just an update on the Twin Turbo VY, after many dyno power runs, camshaft changes all as R&D on the vehicle, testing maximum boost, Intake Air Temperatures under all different boost conditions, the turbo's originally fitted to the vehicle were just not big enough for the latest camshaft grind, and only producing 14psi.

    So after a few changes in the location of the new garrett turbo's, a couple intercooler pipe modifications, installation of twin 38mm external wastegates, with screamer pipes.

    The car fired into life on Saturday morning, just a few hours before Street Commodores dyno day, held at Graham West Workshops (Park Holme)

    From what was said on the day, the dyno readings were down approx 30kw's and 50kw's from a VX SS which id recently seen on the previous dyno day held here in SA.

    The car was washed, safe tune installed, and then driven down for the dyno day, boost was controlled by a Turbosmart Boost T (slightly modified), as time wasnt there for setting up the greddy boost controller.

    As the car hadnt been on the dyno with this new combination the tune was left extreamly safe, meaning there is plenty more in reserve.

    I was extteamly happy with the overall results from the vehicle, on such a safe tune and little boost, boost will be wound up to 22 PSI.





    In the dyno graph above, the maximum boost pressure recorded 12.3PSI, in such a low comp engine, even the operator and owner of the dyno, estimates 650-700rwkw from this little 346ci alloy block LS1.

    Just an update, i finally found time yesterday afternoon to spend a few hours on the car.

    After exceding the torque limits of the dyno in 4th gear with 3.46's, 5th gear was used.

    after running the vehicle on the dyno and only producing 460rwkw, with the same tune and same boost levels 15kw's down from previous dyno run on a mainline dyno.

    Here are the results. after further tuning.

    much appreaciated, the engine seems to be losing power up top, but also being on boost for a long period of time, IAT's rise dramatically where the vehicle is going to lose power anyway. When i get more time to spend on the vehicle i will carryout further testing and diagnose the actual cause.

    Dylan, start saving your pennies, as the vehicle will be up for sale soon if everything goes to plan, you should come for a ride in the vehicle with the latest setup, it makes the blower look shameful, with the mid range power absolutly awesome are the only words i can describe it, with 4 in the car top of 3rd gear, 80ltrs of fuel on board, squeeze the throttle and instant smoke.

    You'll have to run a few strong half tracks to get the launch sorted and jump on the brakes :P then once your confidant it you have it launching as good as it's going to run drive it home for the win. Is that the plan? I've seen lots of gigwatt supras struggle to beat cars with less than half their power though, because they come on boost so hard it's almost impossible to drive them fast without it all going up in smoke

    Yes that was the plan, had a few hicups through out the day, flatspotted front runners and slicks, and enilated a clutch, still managed to do a 130MPH pass with these faults.

    Thats it mate this cars voyage has come to an end, after this weekends extreme horsepower show, the car gets stripped and installed as a cammed LS1, manual, brakes, suspension, wheels etc will stay as is, as the new plan for the car is entirly a tow car for the drag car.

    The new project a purpose built drag car. I might do a build thread on this one.

    So i have for sale,

    dual pump fuel system,
    built LS1 forged pistons, lunati everything, rollers etc(way to much to list)
    twin turbo kit, with extrusion intercooler, garrett turbo's, extrenal waste gates, screamer pipes etc etc.

    Tezza, are u interested in the clutch for your own car......

    The for sale add for the clutch would be something along these lines.

    For Sale,
    clutch, done several drag strip passes, clutch felt brilliant when new, would suit vehicles with far less power, looking for new home behind a MAF equiped LS1 vehicle(eg the old widdle VT)...........

    Nah the clutch will be replaced, and will serve its purpose in the tow car.
