    You can get the tune down now and spec it to the mods you will have later... you might see fuel consumption increase and power too. You won't notice too much power from a cat back alone. I'd get the tune done while it is on special.

    To be completly honest throw the try-why's in the bin, a good tune will increase bottom end power over what try-why's claim to give. 1 3/4's 4 into 1's are normally the best if planning on future modifications.

    Many guys travel from interstate for a camshaft package as we are roughly only 7 hours away from Melbourne or 1 tank of fuel.

    Many companies will lock the tune, i for one do. As ive spent far to many hours just to give up valuable information at the drop of a hat. In actual fact even the PCM is locked from factory, its just that our software can unlock the generic password protected codes.

    If you decide to get the car retuned, simply send back the PCM and i will remove the tune, and reinstall a factory tune that will be only factory password protected.

    At the end of the day, if the tuner that you take your car to, wants the tune to be unlocked and just tweaked, then obviously he hasnt done his job correctly before even attempting to tune your vehicle. There is tuners and then there's tuners, so what are you really paying for.

    As for the tunes that get burnt in to a mailorder, these tunes are designed by myself, and tested and tested before i released a mailorder tune to the public, basically every car that i custom tune starts of as a mailoder and then gets tweaked to suit that individual combination. What 1 tune will work in one car wont produce power figures of the same in another car.

    As for fuel guage calibrations, no i didnt make any adjustments, its just the factory tune, is extreamly rich as a basis and then closed loope fuel control is used on top to get decent fuel economy from factory. This is probably the easiest way i can say it, the VT LS1, came out producing this much power, and economy was this much, the VZ came out of the factory with that much power and better economy but still has basically the same engine. Even the HSV range has the itentical driveline but produces more power and better economy.

    The mailorder tune was designed for this exact reason, to give the guys doing modifcations over time, and wanting to achieve great power gains and economy without waiting till the end.

    I doesnt matter what order you get it done, most of my customers start of with a mailorder tune, then move onto an exhaust system, air intake, throttle body, underdrive balancer, and finally come to see me in the end with a touch up tune to achieve the best results i can from there particular combination.

    Should have spoken to you before i got the tri-y's then aye (1 5/8 i believe). Oh well, i still noticed a fair gain from them. If down the track i decide to change them, what ones should i go for... Pacemeaker tuned length?

    Also if possible could you show us some pictures of your alloy OTR. It's the next thing i'll be getting so am very interested.

    oh cool, so i can get a mail order tune and add my exhaust and otrcai after, and it will still drive and run fine b4 and after the mods with the tune?
    will i still get gwd economy and power out of the mail order tune b4 these mods and even better after the mods have been added?

    very interested still, how much would a touch up tune that u mentioned cost once these extra mods have been added if i want it dyno tuned? is it full price or less due to majority of the tune already done?

    Yes will be fine before and after... this is what i'm doing as i don't yet have an OTR.

    Yes you should see economy improvements. As yet i havn't seen a whole lot as i've really been giving the car some sh*t, but next tank of fuel i'll drive as usual and should hopefully see some nice figures.

    You decided what extractors to go with?

    oh cool, yeh thats what i thought, just wanted to make sure, yeh let us know how ur next tank goes, i'm going to be giving brad a call soon, i have decided on magna flow 2.5" in/out hi-flow cats and x-force stainless cat back system, just not sure on hotdogs in the centre or mufflers with the rear muffler, depends on what the drone will be like with the mailorder tune on a vy auto, headers had decided on tri-y's pacemaker, but after reading some of brads recomendations in these posts, i think i'll get 4 into 1's stainless, but not sure what brand is gwd, maybe x-force or get pacemaker tuned length headers as mentioned b4. but will talk to brad.

    u decided yet?

    I went with the pacemaker tri-y's... Did some reading around and its about half and half, some say tri-y's and others tuned length 4 into 1's. I noticed a big difference from the extractors, especially mid range power, so i'm very happy with the result. If i go cam in the future (which i'm seriously considering), then i might scrap the tri-y's and throw on some 4 into 1's if it'll pump out more power, but keep the 2.5" system.
    The cat back exhaust i have is a press bent one, i'm going to change it to a mandrel bent 2.5"... i spoke with brad and he said xforce were good, recommended them over redback. As for stainless steel not really sure if it's worth the extra $$$...

    Touch up tune costs, are approx $300-$500 depending on time required.

    oh sweet as, thanks brad, yeh thats good, yeh i'm leaning in favour of the pacies, tri-y's, i'm in melbourne and work in the automotive industry and not far from the xforce and dandenong pacemaker places so i'll buy direct of them and fit them myself, just not sure if to get hotdogs in the middle or centre mufflers, that otrcai looks gwd, how much is that brad through u?

    adamc11 how much did u pay for your pacies if u don't mind me asking? iv had quotes of $1,000+ just for the tri-ys.

    The extractors are the same price to purchase, so why buy the try-whys?

    just go straight to the 4 into 1's, but they are a bit harder to install.

    Also with the cam package, does the $3000 include a tune? If not, how much would a touch-up tune cost if i cammed the car... $500?

    The $300-$500 Charge is for touch up tunes, this is to cover dyno running time.

    The camshaft package does include a custom dyno tune.

    Brad what other OTR intakes do you have that are cheaper than the alloy one. Might spare the good looks and go plastic.
