Hey Brad, a few quick questions a) would you be interested in making up some turbo manifolds using modded cast exhaust manifolds to suit a VN 5lt b) would you have a car you can use as a 'template' to make them up on and finally c) ball park figure?
I'm sure there are plenty of places in VIC that can do it but Craig seems happy with everything you have done and I like supporting our sponsors.

PUSHING THE LIMITS IN THE PERFORMANCE INDUSTRY
Just crystal-balling a bit here, but cast manifolds are prone to cracking in these circumstances. Would be more beneficial to make a log style exhaust manifold from steel.
Sorry for butting in.
i do believe all custom manifolds are made from high grade steam pipe (mild steel) and tig welded together.
i proudly use and recommend

this has nothing to do with cast one's but this is the one i made up for my landcruiser with the same if not better results to an off the shelf kit and half the cost

Mmmm. Crusty lol
If it works, good on you.
crusty yes but chep and works just as good as any other. gave my bro inlaws VR V6 a run for it's money
Oh and is just an old 1983 landcriser i'll be making a set for the VP but a proper set

what you think i am stupidwhat i'm saying is it may not be the best way to put a turbo on but works just as good
and proper manifolds are good and looks good but is still not done properly untill you have tuned pipes on it meaning all pipes are the same size from the cyl head to turbo
Nat
I dont use the factory style manifold at all, i only build steam pipe manifolds, as they handle the heat better, and your not limited to how the system has to be layed out in the engine bay.
I dont have any 5.0Ltrs in the workshop that im willing to use as a template, all my turbo kits are custom to every car, as all applications vary, designs vary and many other factors come into play.

my 2 cents...
it isnt a gewd idea to weld mild steel to cast.. it will crack over time.
and stainless steel headers arnt a gewd way to go either, for the surface is hard and heat tends to make it crack.
Is that why Nelson Race Engines uses 321 Stainless?

To quote the fabricator,
"the more expensive materials only buy you more time before they crack..."
But back to the spirit of the thread, there's nothing wrong with good old steam pipe.
Didn't say you were stupid buddy, I was just very surprised to see an old turbo diesel keep up with a VR V6.
As for the tuned pipes, they put the emphasis more on length to get the cylinder pulse timing right.
I think the tube/pipe ID is a given most times, don't see a lot of steam pipes that look like ribbed frangers, do you?
