I need help.

I've got a Speco 2" electrical (not mechanical) oil pressure gauge installed in my car. Its hooked up to a "T" piece that has the factory oil pressure switch connected to the other side. (keep in mind its a 5.0L).

Lately I've been getting some ridiculously low oil pressure readings. The car has only just passed 80,000kms, (I've owned it since 56,000kms and pretty much put the gauge on straight away) On cold start up, it idles at about 40PSI, which isnt too bad, but when i first installed it, it used to idle at about 50PSI. but this isnt really what worries me. When the car heats up and I've been driving for about 15kms or more, it idles at 0(!) PSI (according to the gauge) when before it used to idle about 20-25PSI hot. Also, cruising down the freeway, it sits anywhere between 5-20PSI when before I used to get 30-40PSI at 100km/h.

I know 5.0L's idle oil pressure is really low, but looking at the gauge sit on 0 scares me, especially when it never used to. also, I dont like the idea of cruising at 100km/h and only getting 10PSI.

Occasionally the needle flickers from a low reading to about 20 PSI higher than whatever its reading, but then drops quickly. There's no rattling from the engine to indicate critically low oil pressure, and the factory oil pressure light isnt on. I've always changed the oil every 5000kms, sometimes less.

Things I've done to try fix this:
1) replaced the sender unit. (got exactly the same readings)
2) oil change with thicker oil (20w-60 penrite instead of 15w-60 penrite) and
3) replaced filter with brand new repco filter (TWICE).
4) taken sender off, checked for leaks, tightened.

I've also developed a steady leak from around the part of the block that sticks out where the oil filter mounts to. Not exactly sure where its coming from, but it ends up dripping where the oil filter gasket meets the mount. I now have a nice oil stain in my driveway. (it isnt the gasket leaking though). Is there some sort of valve or bolt around there that's bleeding all my pressure? or is there air stuck in the sender unit or something? do you have to prime the senders with oil?

The only thing I can think of that I may have done is used engine oil flush with my oil change and it seemed to happen around then. Have I ruined my compression or something by washing the sludge away or has the washed sludge blocked the pickup?

Im hoping someone can help me with this as its doing my head in, and I just want to be sure there's nothing actually wrong with the oil pump or lifters to cause the low oil pressure (if it is even low at all). :bang:

Hi,
This weekend I'm going to attempt to replace my smashed door, less than a month till my car is resprayed black now :), I bought another door (from a VS) for replacement, problem is the little ratty kids at the wreckers had a go at the glass with a hammer. Nice. Anyway, the door currently on the car is smashed in (although the winder, glass, central locking and all components work fine) and I'd like to know how to change the mould from the old door onto the one I'm replacing it with, or would it be easier just to remove the stationary glass panel and resilicone it to the new door? I have a gregorys manual which means the winding window glass won't be hard to put into the new door, but yeah, any tips on how to change the stationary glass over would be greatly appreciated. Just to verify, will the switch clip for the electrics fit right into the socket from the old door? Thankyou :)

Was thinking maybe a relay put into the acc wire...so after it starts and acc comes back on it will disable?

or if anyone knows a wire to cut or anything haha

Mrs. Pepe comes to visit her son Anthony for dinner...
who lives with a female roommate Maria...
During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't
help but notice how pretty Anthony's roommate was. She
had long been suspicious of a relationship between the
two, and this had only made her more curious.
Over the course of the evening, while watching the two
interact, she started to wonder if there was more
between Anthony and roommate than met the eye.
Reading his mom's thoughts, Anthony volunteered,
"I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you,Maria and I are just roommates."
About a week later, Maria came to Anthony saying,
"Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the sugar bowl.
You don't suppose she took it, do you?"
"Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure."
So, he sat down and wrote: Dear Momma, I'm not saying
you 'did' take the sugar bowl from my house; I'm not
saying that you 'did not' take it. But the fact
remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love Anthony
Several days later, Anthony received a response email
from his Momma which read: Dear Son, I'm not saying
that you 'do' sleep with Maria, and I'm not saying
that you 'do not' sleep with her. But, the fact
remains that if she was sleeping in her OWN bed, she
would have found the sugar bowl by now.
Love Momma

Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors.
Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic the other residents tolerated her and some of them actually joined in.
One day Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched. 'STOP!,' he shouted in a firm voice. 'Have you got a license for that thing?' Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper and held it up to him. 'OK' he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall.
As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, weird Harold popped out in front of her and shouted 'STOP! Have you got proof of insurance?' Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coaster and held it up to him. Harold nodded and said 'On your way, Ma'am.'
As Ethel neared the final corridor, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of her, Butt- Naked, and holding his 'You-Know- What' in his hand. 'Oh, good grief,' yelled Ethel, 'Not that Damn Breathalyzer Test again.!!!'

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- 'Do not turn upside down.'
(well...duh, a bit late, huh!)
==========================

On Sainsbury's peanuts -- 'Warning: contains nuts.'
(talk about a news flash)
===========================

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- 'Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication.'
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5 year-olds with head-colds off those bulldozers.)

On Marks &Spencer Bread Pudding -- 'Product will be hot after heating.'
On a bar of Dial soap -- 'Directions: Use like regular soap.'
(and that would be???....)
============================

On some Swanson frozen dinners -- 'Serving suggestion: Defrost.'
(but, it's just a suggestion.)
========================

On packaging for a Rowenta iron -- 'Do not iron clothes on body.'
(but wouldn't this save me time?)

On Nytol Sleep Aid -- 'Warning: May cause drowsiness.'
(..I'm taking this because???...)
==============================

On most brands of Christmas lights -- 'For indoor or outdoor use only.'
(as opposed to what?)
==========================

On a Japanese food processor -- 'Not to be used for the other use.'
(now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
==============================

On an American Airlines packet of nuts -- 'Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts.'
(Step 3: say what?)

Hi all, I wanted to ask you a some questions around getting dual zone aircon in my SS.

I bought a Calais CD stacker and head unit out of a 2007 to go into my 2007 SS, I have read posts of members putting them in their cars and getting them to work fine. I know I need to get a tech 2 done, I have reverse park sensor kit (I will also be putting on the front ones soon) as well as the factory roof top dvd player.

I know I will not get the dual zone aircon with a calais unit straight into my ss, so here is my question.

What do I need to get parts wise to make mine work as a dual zone factory unit? I have a guy who has a stat write off SSV he sold the cd player out of it but everything else is still there. If I get the HAVAC out of it, temp sensors ? wiring harness ? what else can you suggest I will need to remove and will it work in my car? I will only get one chance at the parts, as he lives 4 hrs away and is then selling the rest of the car as a going concern shortly. Any actual pictures that will help me identify the parts I will need would be great.

Some other things to consider are will my dvd player be able to work through the head unit screen, will the reverse sensor car picture come up on the head unit screen as per in the calais, hsv's etc and will a Holden tech 2 be all that needs to be done to my car or do I need to take it to some of the after market companies as in some of the posts I have read.

Any help would be great.
