there would be a way to do it but it would involve fitting the intercooler package and moving the throttle body to the outlet of the intercooler plumbing as close to the engine as possible. The BOV would mount before the throttle body. You need volume to get a noise from the BOV and the only way to get that is by fitting an intercooler

Apparently one of our customers just put the BOV in the charge pipe of the intercooler without moving anything else and it worked. We haven't tried it yet but we will on the FIT Calais sometime soon

Regards

Tonsta

Default Bov

I presume the VT still uses the Ecotec engine? If so they use AFM for the air signal to the ecu.
A BOV would need to be a plumbed back type, not vented to atmosphere, or the mixture goes to hell each time the throttle is backed off. Probably not quite the sound you're looking for.
I see this all the time with Skylines where an atmo BOV is fitted in place of the factory plumbed in item, then the owner complains of stalling and generally crappy idling.
No problem if its using a MAP sensor air flow signal like the old VP's though.

I agree. any metered air that is vented to atmosphere will cause the mixture to richen on closed throttle, deceleration...basically whenever it is vented to atmosphere, the ecu is being 'lied to'.....tonsta, i also cannot see how a bov could vent any air on the pressure side of the blower if the TB is pre blower, unless there is some sort of reversion in the system? is it really neccessary on a factory blown 6 anyway?

So what is exactly the point of a BOV? Does it achieve anything?

do you mean a BOV in general that you dont understand? it is a form of boost control and in turbocharged applications allows the compressor wheel/s to keep their momentum, thus creating boost quicker once the throttle is reopened. as i mentioned in my earlier post, i cannot understand the need for a BOV on the factory blown 6, as it employs an ECU controlled purge valve which allows boost pressure back out to the inlet side of the blower.....
