Default Servicing

Hey there Tony,
I'm taking my car back for it's first service (major) on Monday and wondering whether there is anything specific I need to let them know or anything I should be requesting.

Cheers
Darren

Hey Darren,

This is the list of recommendations of General Servicing and Maintenance:

1) Change Oil - Castrol R (now EDGE) 10W/60 Fully Synthetic
2) Oil Filter - Standard Holden
3) Fresh Plugs - BPR6EF-13 NGK
4) Replace Air Filter - (or Clean K&N Filter)

Check and top up the following if necessary:
- Trans Fluid
- Power Steering Fluid
- Coolant (Techalloy 90 Recommended)
- Battery Fluid (Distilled Water Only)
- Windescreen Washer Bottle

Extra's for good measure:
A) Cleaning MAF - with CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner
B) Cleaning IAC - with CRC or WD40
C) Top Gun 8.0mm Leads - TG-6165'c'
D) Turn idle up to 950rpm (Intercooled)

Daily Basis Items:

BP Ultimate 98+RON Premium Unleaded (or Mobil Syngery 8000)

Weekly to Monthly Items:
- Tyre Pressures (Approx 36psi)
- Fluid Levels

Long-Term Items:
- Brake Pads

Anything further and beyond this would be better left to advanced mechanical aptitude owners or general mechanical workshops

Hope this helps.

Regards

Tonsta

Cheers for that Tony

Obviously Holden are going to be using genuine spark plugs, would it be worth my while heading down the cooler plugs direction just yet?

Hey Tonsta, just wondering - I have a power problem with my VT ecotech - it is only making 150rwhp with CAI, K&N, Hiclone, top-gun leads, iridum plugs, pacemaker headers, 2 and half inch redback exhaust and TBS chip. I have never cleaned the MAF or throttle boddy - could this be the problem? With the MAF is it safe to clean the hot-wire. cheers - ecotec

Yes it coul be the MAF, but to be honest with you your power sounds close to par, which we estimate is around 150-160rwhp for your listed mods, so although your MAF may be causing some issues you power is still quite strong for your level of modification

Also your Hi-Clone may be creating better fuel economy, but will be holding the engine back with regards to potential peak power

Regards

Cooler Plugs may be of marginal benefit maybe 1-3kw depending on state of tune and other circumstances. Look for the BPR7EF-13 plugs

Hope this helps.
