Default Ls1 Maf

Hi.
I've heard rumors that the ls1 MAF if fitted to the L67 gives a bit of extra power? is this true , will it be compatable with out a tune, and is the ls1 MAF larger than the L67's...just asking cause i find it a little hard to understand how a ls1 MAF can give gains to the L67.
Any info would be great

Nope, you'll get zero gains from this mod.

The Stock 65mm MAF doesn't max out till a touch over 300kW, so a Gen 3 75mm MAF won't give any gains if you are producing less than this.

It is CRITICAL to Tune if you swap to a Gen 3 MAF as the calibration of this airflow meter is Dramatically different from the stock MAF.

Either way you will struggle to gain anything from this mod.

Better off looking for the proven performers:
- Boost
- Rockers
- Exhaust
- Extractors
- CAI

... etc.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Tonsta

hi tonsta
i was to believe that a std afm v6 maxed out at 246 gps far cry from 300 klw where the ls1 maxed out at 512 so i would check your info before giving advise as above and for the cold air intake well thats another story.

gps= grams per second
hi ive spoke to several tunners about ls1 afm as i have just done a new motor myself wanting to squeeze 400 plus h/p out of it and all of them say that the std afm are only good for about 250 h/p before they max out and they are a restriction on the air intake aswell. once fitted they need to tune the computer but if your doing any mods it will need to be tunned anyway so would defenetly go to the trouble of getting one as there not dear round 50 dollars s/h if you look round.and if you are wanting to achive more than 250 h/p there a must. i can only quote what i have been told as i am no tuner myself but having spent nearly 20 grand on a motor i made shure that i was doing it right.
