Default FIT Intercooler Kit on VS Calais

This questions is aimed at you Tonsta! However if anyone else out there can help, please contribute!

Have you ever fitted the FIT intercooler kit to a VS calais, and does the installation differ in any way to the VT?

i.e. will it all fit OK with the different engine bay layout??

The FIT Intercooler is Universal to fit all L67 Super6 Commodores from VN-VY.

We have fitted plenty to all different models and it's an easy straight forward installation process that takes 6-8hours.

No special tools required, just hand tools, socket set ... etc.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards

Tonsta

Thats great news Tonsta. Another question, is it safe to fit the intercooler and 15psi pulley without a re-tune? I know that the power gains will be far from optimal without a tune but I would like to buy the intercooler kit and then once that is fitted, start saving for a tune.

If this would not be safe for the engine, would it be safe to fit the intercooler but stay at a lower level of boost, say 12psi or even remain on my current 10psi?

i have put an intercooler and 17psi on my vs acclaim, i am currently driving around untuned fine, make sure you move the maf to after the charger but before the cooler otherwise you will get some stalling problems.

Why not after the cooler?

There is too much litreage after the cooler. The Cooler holds around 10litres of Air and backing off the throttle with MAF after cooler results in engine over-run which is although not harmful to the engine, can make it a bit like drive-by-wire throttle annoying to drive.

a) does the trans cooler need to be relocated to install the intercooler

b) would it damage my engine in any way to install the intercooler kit and run 17psi without a re-tune?

a) Yes trans cooler needs to be moved, it's easy to do and illustrated in the instructions provided

b) No it wouldn't damage your engine, just will run and idle a bit rough and not have full power till you get it tuned, but it is still driveable.

If you relocate the MAF it makes it very driveable, just we wouldn't advise to give it anymore than 1/2 throttle.

We would recommend getting it tuned as soon after you intall the cooler for best results and driveability.

Regards

The piping FIT provide has been purpose designed and optimised to configure to any model of commodores from VN to VY using the one set of standard issue pipes, through clever design and routing it allows for it to fit all these models universally.
