My VY II SS needs its 80 00km service its done 85 000kms. The previous owner couldn't afford the last service i suppose and I just want to double check what needs to be done.
I have had this car for a week or 2 and I paid for it and then changed the oil and oil filter cause I couldn't have that(BTW easiest oil change I've ever done). I have also changed the air filter element.
Looking at the service manual it seems holden would be doing the following:
-Engine oil and filter
-spark plugs (can this wait till 90 000kms conflicting info in the maintenance schedule)
-Air filter
-fuel filter
-Check final drive and transfer case oil(should I change? Gregorys says 48 000kms)
-Check/bleed brakes (I understand this is a 2 year thing so being serviced till 70 000kms it should be due next year?)
-Change engine coolant (5 years for V8 so I might as well do it now)
-Check fluid levels battery, pwr steering, clutch, brake etc.
Please add or mention anything that isn't necessary to be changed/renewed. I have done everything on this list before with the exception of diff/clutch oil and I just want to see what other guys self service practices are.
Cheers.
Im all for over servicing. If I was you, I would do everything that the owners manual says as you have listed, plus I would be doing complete fluids so that way, you know they have been done for sure and you can then work out when to change fluids again. Fluids include, diff oil, gearbox oil, coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid etc.
Doesn't hurt to do everything now. I just purchased my VZ a couple of months ago and I did every fluid change apart from diff which will get done next time. Over servicing definetely isn't required, but if you have the funds, then if definetely does more good than harm.
diff oil every 100,000 engine oil every 10,000 or six months coolant every 20,000 or two years brake fluid every two years air filter when its ****ed spark plugs depends on type normal ones last 20,000 and platinums last like 95 or 105,000 fuel filter every 20,000 battery every service so yeh good luck
Cheers mate.
I think coolant is 2 years for ecotec though.
Can you test the coolant with a hygrometer to determine an ethylene glycol percentage?
Going down to super cheap now to grab a few things, I'll let you know how it goes.
hey bud nah coolant is every 2 years with every car
