You could get a rubber hammer and a heat gun. Take the wheel of. Start using the heat gun on the paint (but not to much) so that it does not crack when the metal bends. Then keep tapping it with the hammer on the inside of the arch. But don't do any big swing of the hammer.

And you got your self some rolled up arches.

though it is bloody dangerous to do so when the pipe slips and the full weight of the car is transferred through the pipe to your body...

The pipe doesn't slip, it basically can't if you do it at the right angle. Seen it done first hand many times.

Wasn't lookin to advise some-1 of a dangerous action. As Steery said have seen it done an wasn't a hazard. This is providing your not tryin to do a ridiculusly large flare.

but it is a hazard, it's just not something that you think of until after it has happened... i did my first car with a length of pipe and it worked no worries, but after seeing what can happen when something slips i don't think i'll be doing it again.

Do you work in OH&S or something? I mean ****ing hell. Are you seriously crapping on about flaring a guard with a pole being a hazard? Please tell me how it is REALISTICALLY supposed to harm you in any way apart from possibly a bruise and a scratch. The pole is not going ANYWHERE when its jammed between a tyre and guard.

I did this, I actually couldnt find a pipe, So we shaved a tree branch/log, Worked a treat.
Took a while, Because i didnt want to crack/mark anything, Heated it up and away i went.
    Saved myself $100.
