Default twin throttles on ecotec vy

    hey fellas

i own a vy ute with a v6 eco tec in it. i just put twin throttles on and started the car although the car idles at 2300rpm. has anyone had this problem, is there any way to fix it.

could it be a tune? is there anything i can do to fix it from here. and if it needs a tune is there any one that will tune a v6 ecotec

    thanks

    chris

I think you have to reset the Computer. Rev it to 3000rmp (can't remember if thats right) for about 10 seconds (can't remember if thats right either)

BTW twin throttles would be kinda pointless on a stock v6. So what else have you got running in that thing.

Sports exhaust as in... makes a good sound but no performance gain or you at least have extractors as well. Not having a go or anything but so far you have nothing in that car that gives you any extra KWs. The pod is probably deducting some KW too.

The best advice anyone can give you mate is if you leave that car stock on your p plates and save the money up for something worth while like a turbo or selling this car in combination of the saved up money buy yourself a V8. Thats only if you are looking for a faster car, otherwise keep the V6.

    Just my opinion really.

Well i wasn't saying you were... Since you were putting twin throttles on a stock v6 one could come to the conclusion that you were chasing more power, hence my response.

So reseting the computer as i've mentioned didn't work?

hey man i'm no expert about your problem but try fiddling with you throttle cable it may be still set up for a single throttle body, try loosening the cable and see if the rev's drop down. good luck by the way mate

Which TB is the TPS on? You will need a tune most probably because the computer will take a reading from one TPS and it has no way of detecting a second TB.

Also, the most common issue that throws the RPM out when changing TB's on v6's is forgetting to put the little, black plastic adapter in with the TPS.

    Read post #19:
URGENT HELP please motor reving to high

Also, since you have 2 TB's its like having one TB open twice as much as the TPS is sensing.

    Eg.

    [ I think]

You open the throttle 1/8 of the way... in a normal situation, the TPS detects this, sends the message to the PCM and the PCM adjusts the IAC open just a touch to keep the rpm smooth and running as it should.

But you have a second TB, so you have 2 TB's open 1/8 of the way PLUS the IAC open a bit like it would be with a single TB open 1/8... so heaps too much air getting through.

    [ / I think]

There has been a couple bokes on here that went the twin TB way and had to get tune calibrated to them...

    Good luck.

PS, check the TB's are closed all the way when it's idling...

    this is very LOLZ.

i cammed my super6, started and idled at 800rpm straight away.

twin throttle will cause you to lose lots of resolution. you are effectively halving the available tps stepping...

what has camming your super6 got to do with twin throttles, but thanks for throwing in your knowledge from your lack of experiance. No help at all. So yes it will need to be tuned to suit the 2nd throttle. Even though when i put mine on, the only problem i had was high idle so i reset the iac valve and jackpot, perfect idle.
