    Default VR LS1 Conversion

    Hi all
Starting my LS1 into VR project soon picked up the car this arvy
Car is a stockish VR acclaim v6 with a blown head gasket and dodgy tranny

Anyway just wondering if anyone on here has done an LS1 conversion into a VN-VS commodore and could give me a few pointers?

will be using a T56 an engine from VY/VZ
Got shed + hoist + tools + a few mechanic friends, should be right :P

    any advice would be helpful
    thanks in advance

started on a mates vr ss went from 5sp 5ltr to 4sp ls1, using crs conversion kit very tight round d/s headers and steering rack def have to move starter if you are using original power steer and rack , abs hits on d/s coil packs so have to relocate those , aint got much firther tha that seen as we get about one weekend a month to muck around with it ,

    Nice
Are you using the factory headers? or custom ones?
Yea thought the ABS might get in the way as it got in the way of removing the old engine, thinking of relocating it to where the battery is and putting the battery in the boot
Dad said it might not be legal to move it but i guess we'll see lol

Man I recently changed my booster and I had the same problem! took me along time to figure out the correct tech for getting it off the shaft, the one I replaced it with goes off and on at will? go figure: )

At tHis stage I'm thinking the "correct technique" may involve a grinder and a cutting wheel
unless someones got a better idea lol

    Ok
Pick the engine + box up tommorow, very excited
comin out of a series 2 VY SS
    Comes with pedal box etc
so was wondering if this would fit into the VR or would I have to track down one out of a Series 2 manual VS which had the hydraulic manual box in it?
    cheers

i was at mal wood's shop not long ago discussing T56 into vs. he reackons only the series 3 vs pedal boxes will work (the getrag in series 3 was hydraulic clutch, series 1&2 was cable T5) he can make a pedal to suit but says its real expensive but he was working on some fancy pedal box with the master cylinder under the dash. he didnt mention using a later model pedal box so id guess that wont work

Yea tryin to track down a Series 2 pedal box at present
I got the VY pedal box and it definately will NOT fit lol
brake and clutch are separate lol
Might have a go at cutting up the vy one and the original one and welding them together
    hopefully that will work

i had a chat with mal wood yesterday, that clutch pedal/master cylinder setup he was making for this conversion that i was talking about earlier is good to go. i didnt ask what its worth but if u have trouble finding a genuine clutch pedal/master cylinder give them a ring

Doesn't Stealthy have a cable clutch in his T56 VP? Go see if you can find his "My Ride" page.

Well, I found his page, but it's an album, so doesn't have much info.

    Dang thats kinda dear ay
my S2 vs one fitted up perfect
Only difference between the VS booster and the VY one is the angle that the pipe comes off it only like 35degrees different on angle but shouldn't be a problem
Get the mounts/Starter relocater this week hopefully
