Question Installing Oil Temp Gauge - Ecotec Engine?

    Hello all.

Ive recently installed two accessory gauges into the VT.
One is a vacumn gauge which has been installed without dramas,
The other is an oil temp gauge. The gauge itself is installed, however im having trouble finding a spot to screw the sensor into.

Anyone have an idea of where the sensor should be screwed into?

You could get another sump and drill n tap it into the sump

best i can think of is other than that is to get one of those spacers for the oil filter that let you tap in more pressure sensors and run it there...

really itll be a waste of time unless there is constant fresh flow over the sensor..

i have to ask why you want it tho.. is it just for the wank factor or..?

Not for the wank factor at all... I do on average 1000kms a week, would just be good to know if im going to break down before i break down if you know what i mean.

Noone can see the gauges besides me.

from memory the standard setup for a oil temp sensor is to remove the stock oil pressure attachent and add a brass T-peice to it (you can buy these with the right thread size from somewhere...) then you just screw that back in and add the stock one and the gauge sensor back into it.

Isnt that for an oil preasure gauge?
The oil temp gauge is electronic, (the sensor is approx 15mm wide) would hot oil get to the sensor this way?

As i said majority or heat sensors need to be submerged to work correctly..

i know what your getting at but i still dont see the point to be honest, your temp gauge incorporates block and coolant temp, if that gets hot your oil obviously will aswell

pressure gauge i can understand, temperature not so much

    but everything for their own
