driving upto the sunshine cost from western syd later this month and was just wondering what i should keep my eye on for wear and tear on my car?
im getting my car serviced just for the drive. i drive a vz sv6 alloytec 190kw.
and what the hell can i do to pass the time.
just keep some water and some food in your car.
as for what to do to pass the time, nothing realy, break the drive up, and dont rush it, bloody 7 speed cameras between grafton and the nsw/qld border.
but yeah, you will be fine, heaps of fuel stops along the way.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
heaps of fuel stops along the way eh? how many do ya think?
Watch the road
We leave tomorow morning for the drive from Melbourne to Sunny Coast (26 hours), our plan is to fill up about every 400km's (4 hours driving), that way we will be safe for fuel and get a break every 4 hours. The SV6 should get alot more km's then the Piece of shit Kia and Laser we are driving up, so 500-600 km's would be a more realistic safe spot to fill up at.
As you'e already done, getting the car serviced before the trip and just make sure everything is A1, a fully charged Mobile phone with car charger and credit, maps and a CB Radio.
what would you use the CB radio for? to pay out on the truckies?
redbull is my new friend.
Syd to Bris isn't such a bad drive. The highway is massive for 2/3 of the journey anyway, and there's plenty of rest stops along the Pacific. You'll probably only need to take on fuel once - just watch up for police bikes hiding in the bushes and overpasses along the Pacific north of the Gold Coast
If you're ever feeling bored, just think about this: I drove from Melbourne to Brisbane non-stop two years ago. Longest 23hrs of my life.

Podcasts are the go for long trips, they really pass the time. Car talk is a interesting one if you have never heard it.
CB Radio is handy for a number of things, Midnight conversation to keep you awake, If its a tight road but you need to pass, asking the truck to ease up or tell you whats coming is handy, MOST large truck driver are happy with this, small truck drivers seem to suffering from a little syndromeAlso quite often Cop cars and speed cameras locations are discussed, and if you get stuck with no phone signal you can still get help.
We just done Melbourne to Sunshine Coast, took us 26 hours cause we had so much stupid shit people forgot to do the day before, it was a long drive, but once you do it you realise how easy it is to do.
i might have a look in cashies for a CB.
26 hour drive! man you must have had a awsome stretch when you got there.
I just drove from melbourne to toowoomba. (1980kms)
Keep fuel and a spare tyre and youll be right.
Though watch out for roos if your going the new england hwy.
yeah im not sure witch way im going yet?
should prob have a look into that...
Yeah I drove from Melbourne to Kempsey a few years back, 17 hours, not that bad of a drive if you break it up. I stopped in Albury for breakfast, stopped around Gosford for lunch (used to live there) and stopped in Newcastle.
I took the Hume all the way to Sydney, and took the Pacific out of Sydney all the way to Kempsey, the Pacific is a nice drive just outside sydney, winding roads you can hammer along there quite nicely. It goes all the way to Brissie so you could take that road. The new enland apparently is a much nicer drive, but takes a bit longer. Most of the pacific is boring, its just the little bit going past Hornsby where its really nice.
On the trip I took a Jerry Can of Petrol, Water, basic screwdrewer/spanner set, an extra belt and 2 hoses. Also took a shitload of CDs. If youre going with mates its a lot easier than doing it solo, youll have people talking to you to keep you busy.
Sydney to Sunshine Coast is a no brainer. It's not some sort of massive adventure full of hidden dangers.
I wouldn't worry about fuel stops, you will only need one half way. After Brissy there are heaps of fuel stations and the Sunshine Coast is just over a hour away, maybe two.
I did Wollongong to Brisbane nearly 3 years ago in the 5 litre and only stopped once for fuel at Coffs Harbour, and it wasn't completely empty when I filled up.
Don't worry about wear and tear, its not like you are driving around Australia.
take a women with you to pass the time lol it's 1 boring trip enjoy.
Jam out with your clam out!
Lol me gf's comming with, although I don't think I'll let her drive.
Is there anywhere nice to stop and have a brake?
I'm taking my mate gps just incase. Don't think I'll need it tho.
**** me drunk - just get in the car and drive there! Nothing like making a mountain out of a molehill I suppose..
