Just wondering if anyone knows how to get pins out of an IRS single spinner. Talking about the ones that hold the spider gears together. Any help appreciated.
The spider gear shafts are retained by roll pins which can be driven out with a pin punch. Just make sure you use the correct diameter punch - it should be just under the diameter of the pins.
The manual says the following for this process.
1. Using a hammer and pin punch, drive out the carrier retaining pins.
2. Mount the carrier in a vice using soft jaws and using a brass drift and hammer, drive the long pinion shaft from the carrier.
3. Remove the carrier from the vice and, using a brass drift, tap against the thrust block to separate the two carrier halves.
4. Use the brass drift and hammer to drive out the short pinion shafts.
