Actually bought the SCA pedals today on sale for $10 with a free footrest pedal!
I knew they were cheap and generic but for 10 dollars its worth a go considering the crappy stock platic and rubber. Keeping in mind being able to restore it to the stock if need be.
So i got the brake one on nicely, just slip off the rubber, slip the new onne on and tighten the bracket.
and see no problems putting the footrest on; just screw throught the plastic block. i can replace that cheap if i want to.
But the accelerator requires drilling holes throught the plastic original pedal and bolting it on witht he backing plate. (I cant see where the cable ties come into it????)
My question is , how easy is it to replace the accelerator pedal if i wanted to later? can it be removed fairly easily from inside, or do you have to mess around under the hood?
Any tips on how its removed?
Can be easily replaced. 3x 10mm nuts on the inside of the firewall behind the fuse pannel. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body then unclip it from the pedal.
Not sure if you can just remove the plastic pedal, but either way not hard to replace the pedal and bracket as one.
I forgot to mention its a VZ, is it the same for all models?
As stated in a similar thread (fitting racing pedals ???) these bad boys have to fit over the original, otherwise theres nothing to keep it fixed flat.
Which is a shame as i hahate the plastic squeaks it makes when accelerating.
Ah VZ. Sorry wouldnt have a clue then.
not sure if this is true, but i heard they where illegal? now dont use this becuase i only HEARD it was?
It would'nt suprise me cause its easy to not fit the brake pedal correctly,
eg: so that it get slips off and messes with your braking in an emergency or
fitting it too close to the accelerator and getting your foot stuck.
Comes with absolutely no instructions, but theres cable ties?? WTF.
I'll probably ditch em. have'nt took to the original pedals with the drill yet so no loss, well $10.
You pull the rubber pads of the pedals first so you cable tie'ing to metal. Then the other one slips on and has kind of a bracket/clamp there which you use the allen keys to fix to the pedal.
yeah don't be taking the rubber off you brake pedal. automatic un-RWC, and yes racing pedals, even the clip on one's are illegal, but once again, another product sold at car stores that is illegal, by the cops and vicroads/RTA of course
You HAVE to take the rubber off. The new ones clip on to the metal plate under it. They wont clip in if the rubber is left on.
yeah but did you read what i said..... "yeah don't be taking the rubber off you brake pedal. automatic un-RWC", i would know been done for it
they windged to me about it saying if you have an accident, and you foot gets caught in the footwell and the pedal box squashes down on you legs it can cut you foot off..... blaa blaa, blaa.
but i then said, well it would have to be a good accident for that to happen!!!
cops had nothing to say, apart from put the rubber back on and take the pedals off, or we'll put this little(large) yellow sticker on your car.
On my vz (not sure about the rest) only the brake has the slip off rubber pad.
The Gas peddle is a metal rod with a cheap plastic pedal fitting.
Dont the rubber sections on the SCA pedals keep em legal though?
