Default Help with possible cooling system air lock

Hi guys, I have a VN 5ltr and I took the radiator cap off the other day to suss out the coolant and ever since it's ran hot and taken ages for the thermostat to open. Today I flushed the cooling system and replaced the thermostat and coolant and I still have the same issue. The radiator cap remains cold too.

What's wrong? If it is an air lock how do I fix it? It's shittin me bad now!

Possibly I haven't bleed it properly I'm not sure, I've never had this drama with any of my cars before. What's the best method for the Commo?

Seems to have settled a little, it's consistantly 1/3 temp on the guage now rather than well over 1/2 which isn't too bad for idling in the driveway I guess. I'll take it for another run after Bathurst finishes and hope to hell it doesn't overheat.

Took it for a drive and it seems to have settled but I'll see how it goes going to work tomorrow. The car had a 192F thermostat and it used to sit well under 1/4 temp so I changed it to a 195F hoping it would bring it up to 1/4 temp but now it seems to even out half way between 1/4 temp and 1/2 temp. If it doesn't come down any further I'll go back to the 192F next weekend.

Also found my gas convertor has a leaking gasket on the bottom cover, another job to fix, at least now I have an explaination for the average LPG consumption and slight miss at idle when on LPG.

yes you must have the heater on whilst bleeding the cooling system, to get the air out of the heater core.

Yeah I did all that, it's better but not right. My mechanic reckons the leaking convertor will also be causing cooling issues. I have the car booked in for Friday for the convertor gaskets anyway so I'll suss the cooling system out then.
