Reset Engine Computer

Hi I am new here, I just have taken delivery of a new Holden Colarado 2008 LX which I believe has a Commodore V6 in it. The problem I have is thet the enigine light is permantly on, checking the manaul it has to some thing wiht emmision. I spoke to the dealer i purchased the car and they say the computer needs to be reset. I am 1.5 hour drive away from the dealer. Is there a way to reset the computer with out taking it to the dealer?

remove the battery clamps, neg first then positive and wait a lil bit and reconnect

Wouldn't be surprised if the light comes back on though. Something will be causing it, most likely O2 sensors.
