Talk to another insurance company who are willing to take the risk of your modification. You don't have many options.

There are no loopholes for insurance policies in that sense. If they say they won't insure you because of non standard rims, then there is nothing you can do. As Reaper said you will have to go and talk to other insurance companies that are willing to insure you with the rims. You say QBE was the cheapest, maybe this is stating the obvious...?

If your car comes with 17" stock, you're only going up one inch. They must be really picky to say no to that. Time to find another insurance company!

Yeah but VZ execs were 15" IIRC. NM - judging by the OP's other thread, I'd recommend any insurance company to think twice about touching him.

he said hes in melbourne in his first post, right near the start in fact.

2" rule doesnt exist for roadworthy/adr/etc. but obviously some insurance companies use it to make their policies simpler.

that's not very nice who is to say I don't try to rip a burnout on private property so it safe with a large open runway?

And I heard u can get 17's from Holden when u buy the car so that would make it legal for u to get 18's or 19's true? So if I say I have 17" that should work? I'm going to have to call these insurance ppl, they are so dodgey with their policys

Yeah mate, my bad.... Of course you do....

With the correct tyres and wheel offset etc 18's are quite legal on VZ Commodores. Iirc the VZ SS sedan had 18's OEM. You need to keep in mind though that legallity is only part of the equation. The insurance comapny is not obligated to insure you. Reading between the lines, it appears that they deem anybody with large wheels (like you) to be a higher risk driver who they do not wish to insure. You would need to consult with the sales literature at the time as there were several wheels available as a Holden approved dealer fitted accessory.
