Hey guys, I live in melbourne and want to put 18s on my vz executive but for Some stupid reason I went with qbe insurance cose they were the cheapest and now they are saying they won't insure me if I get 18" how can I get past this is there a loop hole I want this mod!!
There are no loopholes for insurance policies in that sense. If they say they won't insure you because of non standard rims, then there is nothing you can do. As Reaper said you will have to go and talk to other insurance companies that are willing to insure you with the rims. You say QBE was the cheapest, maybe this is stating the obvious...?
What reason did the give ??? driving record ??? age ??? P plate driver ??? have you claimed before ???
Most insurance companies are ok with a plus two fitment , must be a good reason as to why they wont insurance you ????
Well no I havnt made a claim, and yes I am a p plater but their policy is 2 inches above ur standard rims unfortunatly vz's come with 15" I havnt measured mne but I'm fair sure
well maybe i should read the first post not just scroll most of the way down the page.

that's not very nice who is to say I don't try to rip a burnout on private property so it safe with a large open runway?
And I heard u can get 17's from Holden when u buy the car so that would make it legal for u to get 18's or 19's true? So if I say I have 17" that should work? I'm going to have to call these insurance ppl, they are so dodgey with their policys
Yeah mate, my bad.... Of course you do....
With the correct tyres and wheel offset etc 18's are quite legal on VZ Commodores. Iirc the VZ SS sedan had 18's OEM. You need to keep in mind though that legallity is only part of the equation. The insurance comapny is not obligated to insure you. Reading between the lines, it appears that they deem anybody with large wheels (like you) to be a higher risk driver who they do not wish to insure. You would need to consult with the sales literature at the time as there were several wheels available as a Holden approved dealer fitted accessory. And I heard u can get 17's from Holden when u buy the car so that would make it legal for u to get 18's or 19's true?
