The solenoid on the starter motor in my Mum's Pajero died, so we replaced it with a brand new starter motor with 12 months warranty. 2 months later and that stopped working. I pulled it out and returned it, the shop said they'll prolly replace it. Few days later they rang us to say they weren't gonna replace it coz it's had water through it which has seized it up.

I thought that was a load of crap, but turns out most (possibly all) starter motor manufacturers don't cover it either.

So even tho it's a 4WD, which is designed to be taken offroad, the starter motors AREN'T a sealed unit and water can easilly get in and stuff them up. Is that a stupid idea or wat??

Anyways just thought I would vent, and inform people about it so they know.

Luckilly the starter motors are the same so I've taken the solenoid off the new starter to put on the old one, will chuck it in 2morrow and hopefully should work again.....bloody sick of push starting it haha.
