i do believe that as long as the engine in its current form is used in a newer aged car its ok, for example, a vx (01?) would be able to use a 2jz from a 98 supra as long as the supras that were sold in 01 used exact same its ok, so its not ok if there were like small differences like changes in manifolds etc.

that said, i have no idea when the last supras were made, i have a bad feeling 98 was it, but 2002 also rings a bell, i have no clue so sorry if im not correct.

also if im not correct about the laws then someone please correct me, i was told this from my mechanic when i got my sisters celicas engine swapped

The motor will have to come from a Supra that passed ADR 37/01 or prove that they didn't change if older than that I reckon. you shouldn't have any real problem doing that swap, your mechanic knows what he's on about. I don't think there's a kit for it? but theres a few commodores around with 2jz's in them so it can't be impossibly hard to do

If you have a Supra, keep the engine in there, it's a better car from the ground up!

yes, finally, someone else wanting to put a 2j in their 3rd gen commodore, i have a 99 vt, and ive done everything to it possible without touching the motor, cause of nsw p plater laws, and i was going to buy a written off vt ls1 and swap everything over, but the toyota engine sounds better idea, has anyone done this before?, ive seen them in vr's and vs, but no vt's, is it possible?

Given that it's so easy to put a LS1 into a VT I don't think it's ever going to be a common thing to do

yeah as much as i love commodores but with a 2jz like old mate said you can get 500hp at the treds just with bolt on parts then if you start playin with the internals you will b pushing the 1000hp mark

but yeah i think im just going to play with a twin turbo set up on the v6 and c how i go would any1 know if there is some1 out there that makes the exhaust manifold?
