253 Running hot

Hey all my 253 is running really hot just put new coolant in today and still running hot any suggestions???

well i had a look as the temp gauge was sitting on 3/4..

i pulled the thermostat housing off, NO thermostat so i put one in and now she sits on half???

I have been told that if the timing is out on a 253 it will cause it to run hot? is this true or false???

If it sits on half it should be good now..

yeah thats what i was thinking but when we turned it off last night, it pre-ignited so i'm guessing the timing is out a little bit

ok different problem now with the running hot shit!!!!

when i take it for a drive for a bit then stop and turn it off it pre ignites????

get you radiator flushed and test your thermosat in a pot and make sure it opens far enough.
