Looking into how to go about running no power steer on a V6.
No im not 'He-man'. I will be using a VL manual rack and a 4cyl intermediate shaft, so the gearing will be a tonne easier. The problem I have is without the power steer, I can remove the idler pulley, then what sort of belt do i run?! The car has no A/C, no Pwr Steer, may even run an electric water pump, so really the only place its gotta go is the alternator yeah?
Anyone got any thoughts, or any experience with this kind of set-up?
cheers.
why didn't you just ask me? all you need to do is find a 6PK belt the length you need, thats what i done with the gem all you gotta do is cut an old belt wrap it around the pulleys you need and measure the how long it is, then go down to superdodge look up the size in the book and presto you got a belt. oh thats if ya wanna keep the idler pulley?
nah, trying not to keep the idler. it'd look ugly with the idler sitting there all by itself.
Reckon i'll just elongate one of the mountng points for the alternator and run a belt like you said, and use the modified alternator mounting point as adjustment for the belt.......
Watcha reckon the gem will run at Heathcote?
dunno how it will run, we just hope it gets traction and he keeps it off the wall
I don't think traction will be an issue........ Has he got the slicks on?!
***lol'z at the non-awesome-ness of the Gemini at Heathcote!
1st run 17.8

4th run 14.6
Silly little car. Worried about traction my arse. Should've worried more about the lack of driving ability!
