Hey guys just a question, i am looking at getting a set of 20" wheels for my ute and i checked with my insurance and they said they dont insure wheels over 8" wide but all the 20" wheels ive seen or like are 8.5" or bigger. so was just wondering what others have done or what insurance companies your with, im currently with allianz.
Cheers Matt
im covered by sgic with 19x8.5. cost about an extra $5 a month for agreed value of 3000 on top of fully comp. and there illegal and they still insure me, i crashed my car a year ago and they never said anything about the rims. and the 3000 is on top of market/agreed value
hmm never heard of them, probably being im in qld but that sounds alright, was thinking of doing anyway but was just worried if i get in a accident it would void everything and that would not be nice.
Are you sure they realize the wheels are illegal? I'm sure that if the wheels were found to be a large contributing factor to an accident you may not fare so well. To the OP - get a set of wheels that are legal for your car in both width and dia + tyres with the correct load rating and your insurance company shouldn't have an issue as long as you tell them the wheels are there.

Moved thread to General Discussion. Not really anything I can help with here that others can't cover.
Try NRMA insurance. they are pretty gd wen it comes to this stuff. As long as the car is legal they will insure it
thnx guys for the feed back, yeah i was thinking of sussing out other insurance companies when i get my wheels.
cheers Matt
your age might play a part in it? I wonder how they insure european vehicles considering how ****en wide some of those tyres are....
