sanding back paint, need help on what sandpaper to use

purchased tiger mica spoiler and need to paint it genesis blue,

just after a step by step process like what grit sandpaper to use and the like ready for a spray painter,

800-1200 will be fine, both can be coloured directly over

thanks, how deep should i sand? ie remove clear coat or further which is best?

no need to remove the clear if it has no imperfections, just rub it all down til its all matt looking, this will key the clear and allow the new paint to stick.
