Injected 5 litre for sure. No 2 ways about it....
Ide say Carbi 350 chev and turbo 350 or 400 but not sure on legalitys due to increased capacity.
5 litre dont have alot of torque but each to their own as its a heavy car.
350 in an HZ sucks. Only way to get it legal is go straight gas....SBC needs to be in an HQ or it's a waste of time & energy. Mine goes pretty well for a stocker.
5 litre, just for the simple fact there is little to no engineering and fabrication issues. Plus, it's a 5 litre.
the v8 for ease.
We are about to embark on sticking a v6 into my HZ, and it does look like there will be a fair amount of work for it to fit!

Yeah, I'd go with the 5L...
Chances are the Buick V6 will be well worn, requiring a freshen up, rings - bearings etc and I know what I'd rather rebuild, wouldn't be worth wasting the money on the old V6.
Although, if you got the motor for next to nothing, and wanted something different, then a V6 is a nice alternative to an old carby fed inline 6 indeed.
Depends what you want the ute for and how much money/work you want to put into it?
At the end of the day what do you want... A 5L injected motor, or a 3.8 Buick.
decided to put in what ever comes up at the right time for the right price
