Mate of mine is about to purchase a car with QLD plates, we are in SA. The bloke selling the car said he has a RWC to go with the car and that all my mate who's buying the car will need to do is call up Motor Reg an they'll swap it over to SA plates. (no need for regency according to this bloke)
Is this true? My understanding was that if you were to buy a car interstate it would have to go through Regency first and then if the car passed it could be registered in SA.
Could someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks
im sure qld rwc are for qld and no where else.
i assume it will have to go over the pits if u just try to do a new registration
where as if u registered it in qld then went to sa and transfered the rego it will be sweet, bit hard if ur in SA THO
HOPE THIS HELPS
Well the bloke selling the car seems pretty confident that it wont have to go over the pits, reckons it will be as simple as just calling up and transferring it over. I thought I would ask on here first before my mate purchases the car as I am still unsure about it. Guess i'll have to wait untill Monday to call up Motor Reg and get their advice on the matter unless someone knows a definite answer
For those who come across this dilemma aswell, I rang up motor reg today and the news is not good but not surprising. No matter where the RWC is from South Australian motor reg still requires you to go through Regency if wanting to change from different state plates to South Aussie plates.
