    Default Repairing Headlights

I got some genuine SS headlights off ebay for a fair price. Untill they arrived and looked a bit worse for wear.

Pitted and one with a deep scratch mark. After much googling I decided to try the Permatex Headlight Restoration kit. Did as it said, sanded it back as per the instructions. Tried the polish. Sanding marks still there. Damn.

Ive tried resanding with the finest 2500 grit in the opposite direction again. Also tried toothpaste and a car cut n polish to try and remove the sanding marks to no avail. The marks are quite fine, but after all this elbow grease, I might as well get them looking good.

Is there anything I can use to remove the scratches?

I've read that 3M rubbing compound might work, but I havnt been able to locate it anywhere.

Hmm. I've got some silvo (same stuff) around somewhere. Will it actually remove the scratches though?

No idea how it does it, but he showed me his dash cluster and it was perfect. I think it sands it down really really really fine.

I have got a mate who does plastic repairs and that sort of stuff. He isn't the sort of bloke to try and get cash off you and would freely give advice over the phone. Called Bumper Plus 0249546447 in Newcastle NSW.
