Default hsv tb on eco 6?

hi just a quick question was told by a mate whos dad worked for hsv that the cheapest easiest way to get some gains would be to put a hsv throttlebody onto any v6

like for examply cos i have a vy would take the tb from a y-series clubby

anyone see why this wouldnt work or have any opinions on what kinda difference would be seen

    1. There is alot of stuff you can do to a stock VY v6 before the TB becomes a restriction.
    2. Have fun trying to TB a GENIII TB on a ECOTEC intake

In conclusion, the only difference you would see if in your wallet and MAYBE better throttle response.

Back when I have my VX S-Pack, one of the last things I did was a bigger TB. Only difference was throttle respons off the line. And this was after a full exhaust, new CAI system, RR's, 3.73 diff and etc.

I think your mate is full of it because i highly doubt that his dad would have said something that silly if he works for HSV. And if he did, then it's further evidence you should never listen to holden dealers/mechanic when it comes to advice on Holdens.

haha cheers mate i just wanted some closure on it, also while this threads alive rather than make another...

im looking at manual conversions on the eco but you only really hear of the 5spd 6's.... and 6 spd 8's

can i not make an eco with a 4l60e into a 6 speed manual? does the engine not take it?

There would be no gains of mating a t56 with an ecotec that I can think off.

If you ran it with a stock car, it would be epically sluggish off the line due to the 1st beeing a much lower ratio in the t56 compared to anything a v6 is married upto.

So you will need to get diff gears, which will bring you back to square one, a car that is no quicker but you have to shift through more gears getting up to speed. Only you will have spent alot of cash mating a t56 with a ecotec.

Better to look into a a getrag or T5 5speed if you want to go manual.

If you want to go manual get yourself a Mal Wood spec Tremec 5 speed, mind you they're a wider ratio compared to a normal T5 or getrag box, but you won't break it in a hurry.
