Returnless setup in a VN LS1, I have a SARD 'standard' FPR - 200-800KPa:
I reckon i might have to set fuel pressure with a gauge in the FPR, then once I get it set to 60psi, depressurise, remove gauge, replace gauge with fitting to returnless line to engine rail.
Sound about right?
I can scan up a quick sketch if that was stupid or confusing...

is it a 2 port reg or is that suppose to be for a pressure gauge? yes it would but you would still need to run the return line from the bottom of the reg back to the tank. like this
pump ------>---------->---------- reg ------>------>---- fuel rail
tank --------<---------<-------------l

Yeah that 2nd port is normally for fuel gauge
Anyway a couple of guys on other forums have given me the answer
SIMPLE
Run a T piece after the fuel pump, anywhere in the line to the rail this T piece goes off to the FPR. Mount the gauge permanently in the FPR for troubleshooting later on if needed. And, obviously, return gets plumbed back to the tank

hehe not that hard was it all sorted much left to go on it now

Need to find a T piece for the piping, hoping to have fuel system done tomorrow
do I use teflon tape or anything on the fittings to the FPR? does that stuff dissolve in fuel?
after fuel system, not that much to go.

you can get liquid thread sealer but i just use teflon tape theres a few kinds all different names for use in different situations but it doesnt really matter they all seal![]()

Awesome, thanks.
I'll use whatever stuff I have and keep an eye out for leaks over the first few weeks![]()

it's all good, i run the non return setup in my VH. if the reg is 2port (1 in/1 out) then you need to run a T piece. if you have a 3 port reg ( 2in/1out) then you don't need the T piece as it's all done through the reg. you can put a fuel pressure gauge anywhere in the system. personally i'd mount it by the fuel rail somewhere as that is where you need to be certain it is correct. filters, well that's up to you but again as close to the fuel rail as possible. that way it eliminates any issues with crap that may be in the lines.
i prefer liquid thread sealer but it's a bit expensive to buy for a single job. fortunately i have excess to it at work (sometimes when we haven't run out)

Thanks, I don't want to stuff around with finding a gauge to mount up on the rail when I have one that came with the FPR.
It is a 3 port FPR but I'd rather set it up with a T piece in the line anyway to leave that 3rd port in the reg free for permanently mounting the gauge.

Keep teflon tape well away from fuel...Use a proper liquid sealer. I've seen teflon tape end up in carby needle & seats, injectors, gauges many times before. Worst thing you could possibly use on fuel fittings.
OK great, I've just been out for two hours on a bull shit run around for fittings etc, come home to find out I need to go get more shit...
My timing is fail.
I'll see if it leaks with no tape on it ... 1/8th NPT, tapered thread, I think they might be OK just as they are... but if not, I'll use CAREFULLY PLACED teflon tape until such a time as I get some proper liquid sealant

youll find the npt fittings without tape will leak and wont screw in properly .just dont put the tape right at the end of the thread so it doesnt get pulled off the end into the fitting and youll be sweet ive lost count at the amount of fittings ive done with it now no issues all our surge tanks are done with it and every other npt fitting all my oil feeds are done with it too due to leaks
